WELCOME BACK!

What a wonderful year it is shaping up to be!!! The students in Gr. 3 & 4 are amazing workers and a very fun bunch of kids! I think this will make my 35th year of teaching the BEST EVER!
This website will be available for students and parents to check to see if there are important announcements, dates, and assignments. Please check it often for updates. If you wish to contact me there are several ways; through the student planners, by email at camie.baumann@hzsd.ca, by telephone at 598-2110, or in person at the Gr.3/4 room.

Classroom Update

I am going to send handwriting for homework over the next few months. It would be very helpful if you could encourage your child to complete it and return it to school! Any additional practice would be great as well.
Happily both grades have finished the patterns unit in Math. Most of the students did well on the Unit end assessments. Both grades will go on to work with whole numbers; Gr. 3 to 1000 and Gr. 4 to 10 000.
Our class is participating in the Terry Fox run. If you would wish to join us, we are walking about the town at 1:00 and then finishing the day with ice cream.
I would like to wrap up the 'Little Red Cap' booklet. Please return them to school for Thursday. The students are making a fairy tale search-a word booklet. There are some excellent puzzle makers in the classroom.
Finally, I will be going to Leduc to help my daughter-in-law and to spoil two of the cutest little girls ever, on Thursday night. I will be returning Monday night. I will miss the students but I just cannot wait to get there to see my girls again!

Handwriting

The students are just starting to learn how to hand write in Gr. 3 and practicing skills in Gr.4.  The students will be bringing home extra sheets to practice.  Please view the sheets and give any advise or help that your child may need.  The Gr. 3's are very excited to be learning this life long skill.

'Little Red Cap' Project

Gr. 3/4 students are currently reading and illustrating a book called Little Red Cap.  It is part of our unit on Germany and the Grimm's Fairy Tales.  They will be doing some work on it at home, illustrating and orally reading it to someone.  Thank you in advance for listening to your child read!

Carrots

Thank you to Reece's and Josh's moms and gardens!

Breakfast for Learning

We love the smell of toast in the morning! Today was the first day for Breakfast for Learning. Once again Ms. Harris and Ms. Crone are volunteering to lead this. It was great to see all of children nourishing their bodies and mind; and enjoying each other's company! We need several more volunteers, so if you wish to help us out, please call the school. It is a very worthwhile endeavour! Send hungry kids to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays!
